This means that Crystal Bowersox, 24 year old musician from Toledo, Ohio, and Lee DeWyze, 24 year old paint sales clerk from Mount Prospect, Ill., will battle out for this season’s American Idol finale next week.

James, the long-haired 27 year old musician from Fort Worth, Texas, was revealed to have received the fewest viewer votes after his performances Tuesday. He sang “It’s OK With Me” and “Daughters” for the performance night.

DeWyze told that host Ryan Seacrest that he’s “never wanted to win more than I do right now.” He sang “Simple Man” and “Hallelujah” which gave him lots of praises from the judges.

“Everything that you guys have said has been helpful,” said Bowersox. She sang “Come To My Window” and “Maybe I’m Amazed”.

Tuesday’s American Idol performance night attracted 18.3 million viewers and gathered 47 million votes.

Lee Dewyze Hallelujah Video:Lee DeWyze's first song choice was Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man,” a tune previously performed by season 5’s Bucky Covington but not with the conviction of Lee’s version. That’s because this guy from the Chicago suburbs is about as meat and potatoes as they come, and he makes no apologies for it -- It’s what’s brought him this far. And that’s exactly the sentiment that the song puts forth. A smart move for Lee in these final days.

Lee’s “Simple Man” inspires some serious swaying in the front, and way in the back, his vocal sounds strong and clear. Ending the song with a smile and props for the band, Lee nods in agreement when Randy declares that he’s in it to win it. Ellen’s comparison to a “little baby lamb” brightens the mood even more as does Kara’s comment that round 1 goes to Lee, but for Simon’s turn, Lee stands with clenched fist. Fortunately, it’s good news as the panel’s most important judge describes the choice as “absolutely on the money” and a performance that “crushed” the other two.

Simon’s choice of “Hallelujah” was a bit peculiar considering Tim Urban just sang it little more than a month ago, but perhaps looking to show that he can do more with the Leonard Cohen/Jeff Buckley classic, it turns out to be a good choice vocally.

The studio literally erupted in applause the instant Lee strummed his last note, and the enthusiasm is not lost on this judging panel. Randy called it Lee’s “biggest moment,” Ellen said "it’s “stunning”. Kara declares that Lee “is what this show is all about” and “the heart of this season.” Simon offered nothing but praise to his chosen favorite, and in the end, maybe it is a victory march for the former paint store employee.

The painter from Chicago finally resuscitated a middling season of "American Idol" with a little help from Leonard Cohen, launching himself into the top spot in the second last week of the show.

The 24-year-old started out strong by choosing "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd as his opening number. One of the southern rock band's most famous tunes, it perfectly complimented DeWyze's husky vocals. Randy congratulated DeWyze for finally accepting that he can "win" while Ellen likened him to a lamb who had tured into an impala. Kara said he won round one of the competition while Simon took it a step further and said he "crushed" the competition.

But that was before DeWyze's - and season nine's - moment of enlightenment.

Perhaps feeling the need to leave behind a legacy for his last season on "Idol," Simon chose the gospel tune "Hallelujah" for DeWyze's final song of the night. The most covered of Leonard Cohen's tracks, DeWyze had his work cut out for him. But somehow the former painter managed to turn the soulful folk song into an epic piece of orchestral beauty. Standing front and center in pure white with a black-clad choir and a team of string instruments behind him, DeWyze appeared to be singing to a stadium rather than an "Idol" audience.

At the end of the performance, the crowd stood up and Simon bestowed an "I told you so" look upon his fellow judges. Randy praised Simon for his song choice, while DeWyze appeared to tear up and admit he waffled on the song at first. Ellen called his performance "stunning" and Kara said, quite simply, that he "owned the entire night."

That is not to say Crystal Bowersox was anything to sniff at.

The former front-runner gave it her all with Melissa Etheridge's "Come to My Window," her guitar and harmonica in tow. Surprisingly, the arrangement overpowered the raspy songstress who often dominates the stage with her wild vocals. Despite her shortcomings, Simon said he "respected" Bowersox for never having compromised herself as an artist.

Bowersox really shone when she sang Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed," which Ellen chose for her. Kara said she "showed parts of your voice we haven’t heard before." Simon added that she proved she had soul and may be thanking Ellen next week for putting her in the final round of the competition.

Since he started on the show, Casey James hasn't appeared particularly bothered with winning. It's just as well because he gave another passable performance Tuesday night. Singing "OK, It's Alright with Me" by Eric Hutchinson, James' voice was unwavering and peppy but it just wasn't enough. Simon said it was like a "salad" and that he sounded like "he was busking for a couple of dollars."

The Texan did a lot better with John Mayer's "Daughters," which Kara picked for him. According to his favorite judge, James' audience is "women and girls" and he was able to show his vulnerable side with the performance. Simon tittered like a child about the song's climaxes and despite acceding that James' voice was good, he thought the arrangement was lazy.

Mothers and daughters should prepare themselves; Wednesday night will probably be James' last.

Dancing With The Stars Elimination April 27:Los Angeles: I must say that Dancing with the Stars has lost much of sheen since the exit of flamboyant, controversial, awful, err ambitious Kate Gosselin.

No one will disagree with Dancing with the Stars April 27, 2010.

What if she is not really, really a star, she behaves like greatest of stars and has this air about her that puts her in an altogether different category.

I am disappointed that I couldn’t see her antics on the show. If Dancing with the Stars guys can bring her on the show and ensure that she remains there for this longer, they could have ensured that she remained a little longer on the show.

In the meantime this week we see the booting out of another star Jake Pavelka.

I was so far much impressed with Chelsie Hightower and Jake Pavelka. Both had been coming with impressive performance.

But now just a single bad performance can ensure that you are ousted from this high profile show.

So now we have just six stars left on the set of Dancing with the stars.
